If you are an old school gamer like I am, you remember the days spent at the arcade after school popping quarters into those soul sucking machines that would rob you blind of your lunch money without mercy. I remember many hours spent stringing together several violent curses at the old arcade cabinets as I would watch my supply of coins dwindle till I was left staring at the game over screen time and again.
Regardless of the post-traumatic stress disorder that the hours spent at the arcade has given me, I still feel a thrill of excitement when I learned that one of my favorite arcade games is coming to the Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network.
Konami announced today that X-men arcade will be hitting consoles everywhere with all of its nostalgia inducing effects. But wait! We’ve all seen arcade games that we used to love reduced to control shattering frustration at the hands of a developer who decided that they could improve upon a game… what makes this any different? Well Marvel and Konami have already put any fears we may have had to bed when they announced that X-men Arcade will remain exactly how we remember it without “improving” upon anything.
Gamers everywhere can expect to battle classic X-men Villains such as Pyro, the Blob, Wendigo, Nimrod, the White Queen, Juggernaut and Mystique as they battle their way towards the master of all magnetic forms of evil: the very creatively named Magneto.
Konami and Marvel are not letting this game go without a multiplayer mode of course and have already promised Drop-in co-op for up to 4 players locally and (for those of you with no friends) 6 players online.
As for us? We can’t wait to get our hands on this one! Stay tuned as we bring all you all of the latest NSFWNews on what is sure to be a instant classic when X-men Arcade releases later this year.
This game was evil. It was in a series of evil games. They were designed for you to fail and eat your quarters.
These games made me very angry. I spit on them sometimes.
We won’t argue the point with you on that. This game most likely hated all gamers and wanted to make them suffer…just saying
